Majlis al Jinn in Oman is more than 50 stories deep and is one of the largest caves in the world. Majlis al-Jinn means “meeting/gathering place of the Jinn” and is also known as “Khoshilat Maqandeli”. This spectacular cave is one of natural wonders in the world.

The locals believe that Jinns lives in caves and since this is one of the biggest cave in the world, this chamber surely must serve as their majlis, or meeting place. That’s how it got the name “Majlis Al Jinn”.

The cave has three natural entrances, potholes leading directly down into the huge chamber, ending in the ceiling. First Drop is the biggest entrance and up to 20m wide. It is also the one commonly used to enter the cave. The Asterisk is the second entrance and a little smaller, probably up to 15m wide. The third entrance, Cheryl’s Drop, is much smaller. All three are clearly visible on Google Earth satellite images.
